Bcdedit not recognized windows 10

I am running Windows 8.1, and also when I tried to usage bcdedit.exe (for the first time on this install) it told me that:

"bcdedit" is not known as an interior or external command, operable program, or batch file.I discovered this odd because:

My PATH variable consists of C:WindowsSystem32bcdedit.exe is in System32I"m running the command from an elevated command also prompt (not through some other language)

I tried a selection of other points, consisting of using cd to go to the folder and then placing in bcdedit.exe (rather of bcdedit). No luck. Anyone understand what"s going on?

Open an elevated command prompt.

You have the right to use this to view if bcdmodify is damaged:

sfc /VERIFYFILE=C:windowssystem32cdmodify.exe

If the file is fine you will acquire an output prefer this:

Windows Resource Protection did not uncover any integrity violoations.

If the file is damaged you deserve to attempt to relocation from backups using:

sfc /scannow

If for any factor that stops working you can always attempt downloading the Windows 8.1 Enterpclimb trial, install it in a digital machine, and copy the bcdmodify.exe from it.

This might also be as a result of running a 64-little bit OS, in which case you have to access BCDEDIT from C:WindowsSysnativecdedit
