Ds4 windows not working with dark souls

I’m trying to use a Dualshock 4 through Dark Souls II. It works in Steam Big Picture Setting yet as soon as the game starts all I deserve to carry out is usage the trackpad to relocate and click the computer mouse. I have used the Dualshock 4 for years. I played Dark Souls II on Windows with it. Any ideas?

Did you try to look right into Controller Configuration in Steam Settings? enable/disable the particular controller built-in support?

Yes. I’ve gone with the main settings and game specific settings. If I uncheck all controllers but generic then the game will certainly check out the controller yet the butlots are mapped erroneously and also the cam rotates permanently.

Did you get this sorted? I have had no problems playing dark souls 2 through a dualshock 4 over bluetooth for the past 2 years.

Do you have the game-devices-udev package installed?

I have in vapor controller setup Playterminal controllers ticked and also use just a generic layout.

I didn’t, give thanks to you for responding. I tried a couple of various things. I can obtain the game to review the controller yet then the butlots are mapped wrong. Like I said it worked in Windows for me and also actually operated a couple of months earlier yet I can’t remember if that was Windows or Linux. It worked fine for some various other games, NieR: Automata and also Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, on Linux. No principle what is up through Dark Souls II. I’ve review other people having comparable troubles however no options.

The trick seems to be, gain steam to recognise the controller as a playstation controller, it presents it to games as xinput 360 controller and every little thing works fine, unmuch less the game has native DirectInput assistance which I’m pretty sure dark souls doesn’t.

I have no clue what goes on at a wine and also kernel level but for me dualshock 3+4 were plug and play so long as I provided the vapor input wrapper.

I have the right to only recommend some light reading

Of course the genas well short article you’ll have to adapt slightly.

Edit: on Protondb one user claims enabling vapor input makes DS4 job-related and also one user claims to have offered up and also provided an xbox. I guess it’s just yymv.

…I’m most likely bot being incredibly helpful

You are helping plenty! I appreciate it. I simply bought Spyro and also the controller won’t work-related with it either

*
. This have to be something unregarded the game. I’m puzzled bereason it functioned before! I used this controller on Linux via NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for specific. It will certainly work to navigate Steam but not in the game. This circumstances will most likely be advantageous though. Thank you for the links.

From my experience, some Proton games just doesn’t procedure the controller well with the change layer. For some factor it procedures my controller as a mouse?

Works excellent in pretty much all my other games though.

I wonder if it would certainly act in a different way if you try to use a Steam Controller or X-Box controller.

Maybe you have the right to attempt to check out if GloriousEggroll’s Proton fixes the concern. This version of Proton fixes various other issues that I had actually in some games. Haven’t tested it for the controller problem yet though.

The controller is recognized as a mouse here as well. I have the right to usage the touchpad to relocate the cursor roughly the screen and push it for left clicks.

This is an odd solution I uncovered on Reddit yet unchecking all of the controllers in settings enabled the controller to occupational. Going to install Dark Souls II and watch if it functions for it as well.

This hregarding be something distinctly problematic through your setup. So many variables.

Spyro likewise must work-related simply fine. (Does for me)

You’re not running steam from flatpak are you? Did you check you mounted that package (game-devices-udev)? You’re not utilizing steam-native or steam-linux-integration are you?

n_b 22 January 2021 23:48 #12

I execute not understand what flatpak is. I have both steam-indigenous and steam-linux-integration mounted and also game-devices-udev.

The controller is known as a mouse below also.

Maybe you have the right to try to disable joystick from regulating mouse and also see if that helps.
