Html file not displaying in browser

Local HTML files, even though they are connected via Chrome, carry out not actually open up in Chrome anymore once I double click them. For instance, double clicking an HTML file on my desktop will launch Chrome, yet the web browser home window will not display the content of the HTML file.

If I change the regime my computer will certainly use to screen HTML papers to Safari or Firefox, they open as I intend them to, rendering the HTML properly in a browser home window.

If, I have a Chrome home window open up and also drag the HTML file into the internet browser window, it will certainly render the HTML content properly, but the double clicking is the habits I"m hoping to gain earlier.

Does anyone understand why this might have actually caused this readjust in Chrome behavior? And ideal of all, exactly how to solve it?

Chrome extensions I use: LastPass, Xmarks, Google Voice.

I resolved this by changing default "open up with" choice on the Mac from Chrome to Firefox and also then placing it earlier to Chrome.

The OS assumes that a paper association simply means "appname" "filename.ext". If for some factor the world over at Google screwed that up somewhere that would certainly be a reason why it quit working

Old question, yet...

Tbelow is a Chrome extension dubbed Enable local file links (Chrome web keep, repository on Github), which is still pretty secure (e.g. a page cannot open up a regional file except in response to a user interaction).

Install it, rebegin Chrome and open up regional documents by double-clicking!

Look if ask.com or one more search engine is active in the browser. This reasons that Chrome starts with the default page. Even IE 10 or 11 doesn"t open up an html or htm file. It will just begin the Net internet browser. Disable the include on applications favor ask.com ect.
