You watching: Msi laptop keyboard lights not working

When I push fn+Steelseries switch (Home button), the laptop recognizes I have done that, but my key-board lighting still doesnt work, no light at all. Last time this taken place I unset up the steelseries engine and also that worked. however I tried it this time but it didnt occupational. I tried activating my keyboard lighting with the steel series engine, yet nothing happens. What does happen though once I press fn+steelseries button (house button), is that on the steelseries engine app, it states that the key-board lighting pattern has actually adjusted, but theres no light coming from my key-board at all.

It's extremely unmost likely that my LEDs are damaged as once I press fn, some buttons light up.

Please help!

OK, so I was facing the same difficulty, and my difficulty was unique. I can turn up the brightness yet i couldn't adjust the key-board lighting profile for some reason. I troubleshooted (troubleshot?) it generally, but the conclusion I concerned was pretty weird (however it's the just point that functions.)

Uninstall the latest Windows 10 Cumulative Upday (KB4507453) and also hide it from Windows Upday utilizing the Microsoft 'wushowhide' utility accessible online.

Perform a BIOS update. (no have to reset the EC).

It can take a couple of reboots for the SteelSeries engine to regain control of the key-board, but it might take place ideal on the boot after the BIOS update (it did for me).

Apparently the upday is causing this concern for some factor (tested this conclusion on a fresh Windows install on an exterior HDD I booted off of.)

(I'm utilizing a GS65 8RF (GTX 1070 Max-Q).)
