I"ve been struggling for two days with this error now and also read and executed numerous services - but none seem to work-related.I hope I uncover help here.

Without any type of warning or error my Vmaschine cramelted.When I try to open it I gain the "The file specified is not a virtual disk" - Error.

I can not revert to any type of snapshots (Daily Snapshots are made).

Solutions I"ve currently tried:

Checking the vmx if it maps to the wrong vmdk - nope, every little thing seems to be fine.Rerelocating the *.LCK foldersMaking a new VM from a vmdk (Error: "Parent of this online disk might not be opened")

Is there anypoint else I can do?And is tbelow anypoint I deserve to provide that could aid you guys and girls helping me?

So, in my situation the only means to resolve this was to go through eexceptionally connected .vmdk and examine if the parent one is still functioning.

I discovered one that was still ok from about a month back.

Tright here was most damaged data, so I think this is a distinct situation and also need to not be taken into consideration as a normal procedure.

For me, I simply rerelocated the virtual disk from the online VM from the vspright here / ESXI internet / whatever you usage, (DON"T DELETE THE DATA),Then re include the existing online disk.

I booted up an old VM and also had the same trouble. Turns out I had installed a physical SD card as an IDE drive to the VM using the "advanced" options last time the VM remained in usage. I didn"t have an SD card in the computer system anyeven more, so VMWare couldn"t find the SD card.

Simply by going right into Virtual Machine Settings and also rerelocating the mapped IDE drive I had the ability to fix the issue. Hope this helps someone else!
